High Five Tour's Final Stop #41: Mount Rushmore
Mount Rushmore
It felt almost poetic that we were celebrating our final day on the High Five Tour at one of America’s most historic and prominent landmarks. We got in early in the morning and met the two news stations who were interviewing us as we closed our trip. It was a gorgeous day and the skies were so blue. There were tons of people out that morning and we gave high fives to as...

High Five Tour Stop #40: Denver, CO
The Denver Zoo
Denver completed our 1,400 mile trip from Seattle and we were excited to be there. The local VFW had invited to the Military Appreciation Night that was being hosted by the Denver Zoo. We got to meet many veterans from all over the country who happened to be at the zoo that evening. It was great to talk to these heros and high five them but I really enjoyed hearing the Colonel...

High Five Tour Stop #39: Cheyenne, WY
The Veterans of Cheyenne
We got to Cheyenne in the early afternoon and met up with their Channel 5 CBS Affiliate who had asked to follow us around while we highfived some Wyoming veterans.
We started with an interview at the Cheyenne Capitol Building and then went around town. It was awfully quiet but we were able to find plenty of veterans that were happy to get some high fives and sign our...

High Five Tour Stop #38: Salt Lake City, UT
Roads That Stretched On Forever
Since the Colonel had decided that we wanted to spend extra time with Debbie Garrett and drive through the Cascades we spent most of the next day driving. We had to undertake a 1,400 mile drive to our next major event in Denver; but before that we had some other stops to make a long the way.
The Mormon Tabernacle
We arrived in Salt Lake City pretty early in the...

High Five Tour Stop #37: Washington
Miss Debbie G and Miss Debbie G
After our interview in Eugene we hit the interstate and got ready to head to our last stop of the day, Seattle, Washington. We did not have a Tv or radio interview instead we had a five o’clock dinner reservation with Debbie Garrett at the Space Needle; and we were determined to keep it.
The colonel and I were both very eager to meet with Debbie because it...

High Five Tour #36: Eugene, OR
Wolf Creek
We pulled off a few exits early to refuel the 2010 Shelby Cobra Mustang at a small town called Wolf Creek. While we were there we visited the Wolf Creek Inn an original stagecoach stop and one of the oldest functioning inns left. The owner and her daughter came out to see sign the car and get some high fives. They were even kind enough to be in our daily video.

High Five Tour #35: Medford, OR
Snow Capped Peaks
We had lucked out over the last few days in LA and San Francisco because the weather had been relatively cool. The highs were in the low eighties and at night it was in the 50s. Well going up towards Oregon the weather started to heat up again. So both the Colonel and I were surprised when the hills we were going through receded to reveal the beautiful and snow covered Mt....

High Five Tour Stop #34: Roseville, CA
Riding With the Ponies
Roseville was not a scheduled stop for us on our trip but again we were called on by another mustang club who wanted to come see us and ride with us. We met them along side an entrance ramp to the highway and when we pulled up there were only two cars. By time we were done with pictures and high fives there were about 16 mustangs ready to help us drive up to Oregon.
The...

High Five Tour Stop #33: San Francisco, CA
Wind Powered Frisco
The ride up on I-5 towards San Francisco was pretty boring. There isn’t much to see besides the hills and the dried up plants. It’s a tragedy that the water shortage had left many orchards barren. The hills were so yellow often times it looked like we were in the Sahara driving past sand dunes.
There was one type of farm that still seemed to be producing and...

High Five Tour Stop #32: Los Angeles, CA
Living Like A Star
We arrived in LA in the early evening and the Colonel showed me around. We drove through Hollywood and Bel Air. We watched the people running in and out of clubs and into restaurants in their suits and dresses. We decided to spend the night living like a star and we headed to the Ivy for dinner.
While we were there we met a father and daughter who were in town on vacation...

High Five Tour Stop #31: Fort Irwin, CA
Visiting the 11th ACR
We headed out of Vegas and sped across the desert trying to stick to our tight tour schedule and beat the heat. On recommendation of General John Sylvester we decided to check out Fort Irwin before we made it to Los Angeles.
Fort Irwin is not hard to find if you know what you are looking for but you could drive passed it on the interstate every single day going to work and...

Apologies
As you might have seen in an earlier post my camera which I had brought along to take the tour’s photos with was lost or stolen along with the SD card with about 400 pictures on it that hadn’t been uploaded to our galleries yet. I’m still holding out a little hope that this camera will be found and returned.
Nevertheless the trip carried on.

High Five Tour Stop #25: Mesquite, TX
Rodeo!
Mesquite, TX was our last stop for the day. We were headed off to see some cowboys and rodeo clowns as the Mesquite Championship Rodeo. It was a great little event. The Colonel was introduced and ran up and down the stands giving out high fives to the cheering crowds. Afterward the colonel tried his hand at riding a mechanical bull and we headed out for the night.

High Five Tour Stop #24: Fort Hood, TX
Fort Hood
Fort Hood was our next stop and we were continuing our mission of spreading the vision of the organization to our troops.
As we arrived on the base and checked in both the Colonel and I were handed a large packet of information detailing our entire stop. We had names and maps of every person we would meet and every place we stopped off on base. It was obvious that they had gone above...

High Five Tour Stop #23: San Antonio, TX
Supporting Our Troops
We started off our day in Texas at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Not only were we giving out high fives but we had some special books to drop off for the soldiers currently in the center. These books had been filled with messages of hope and support by people all over America. One of the great function of Wounded Warriors Family Support is to make sure...

Missing: Canon Rebel T2i in Holbrook, AZ
Hey! Scott here from the High Five Tour. It appears that I have lost my DSL-R Camera in Holbrook, AZ today. I went back to look for it but could not find it. I am posting this hoping that someone who finds it will take a look at the site and be able to contact us and return the camera. The camera has pictures for the tour but is also my personal camera. Even if the camera is damaged I would...

High Five Tour Stop #22: Pensacola, FL
Pensacola, FL
We hit Pensacola in the early evening and headed down to Pensacola Beach a happening vacation town for some dinner. We ended up at a fantastic seafood restaurant called Flounders. The food was great and the atmosphere was even better. We sat outside next to the beach and watched the fishing boats come in during the sunset. It was an exceptional evening and one I wont be likely...

High Five Tour Stop #21: Montgomery, AL
Home Of The Heat!
Driving through Alabama was scenic and relaxing. The roads were nice and I was reminded of the history of the area as we were driving through. But the most remarkable thought I had in on our way to Montgomery was that it was extremely hot. Each time we stepped out of the car I was hit with a wave of heat that could have knocked me on my butt.
Montgomery was a beautiful city...

Finding Elvis
We arrived in Nashville pretty early in the morning will at full day of traveling ahead of us. We were getting ready to record our morning video in front of the car for the day but Colonel Folsom found someone much more interesting to shoot with. Elvis!
After our video we went around town giving out some high fives and got to interview some locals about our mission...

High Five Tour Stop #19: Asheville, NC
Horse Power!
This time we were heading to Asheville, NC. Though this stop was not on the original plan, we were invited by the Asheville Blue Ridge Mustang Club to join them on the Biltmore Estate. Their plan was to bring us into the estate as their main attraction.
We met up with Joe and a few of their members at a nearby Harley Dealership. They greeted us and then we were off with a police...

High Five Tour Stop #18: Fort Bragg, NC
Spending Time On An Army Base
This stop had us doing something pretty cool. I got to spend the night on an army base. I wasn’t really sure what to expect. The first thing I noticed as we drove past the security check points was how large the place was. It was it’s own little town had a base bowling alley and fast food stores (even a Papa John’s that I saw delivering pizzas)....

High FIve Tour Stop #17: Charelston, WV
Take Me Home, Country Roads
We woke up in a small town only a few minutes out of Washington D.C. and our plans were to head down to Charleston, WV and visit the state capitol. High Fives were the orders of the day. We had the pleasure of stopping off in Reston to meet up with General John Sylvester and his good friend Mike Livatino to come along on our tour for the day.
We started off making...

Visiting Some Friends
Washington D.C. was our next scheduled stop but before we headed there the Colonel had some friend we needed to visit in near by Fredericksburgh. We made a quick stop and met some wonderful folks in Virgina. Everyone loves the Shelby and they got a kick out of signing it and leaving their messages on it’s skin. They welcomed us into their homes and to meet their...

High Five Tour Stop #15: Philadelphia, PA
Making History
Happy Birthday America!! It was July 4th 2010 and we made it to Philadelphia, PA for the 2010 Independence Day Parade. We were thrilled to be at Independence Hall where it all started and we had a mission. Our goal was to set a new Guinness World Record for The Most High Fives Given In A 24 Hour Period. The current record was set in Rode Island by Blake Rodgers back in 2008 when...
